Moving photo wallpaper for your desktop or TV.
Fill a second monitor, a TV or a spare screen with your own photos in motion. Tape 90 drifts and cuts through your pictures with soft VHS colour, in time with the music or a steady rhythm when it’s quiet.
Open the free studioNo sign-up. No uploads. Works in Chrome and Edge.
Set it up in a minute
- Open the studio and drop in a folder of your favourite photos.
- Pick a calm look. Drift and Introspective use long, slow movement that works well as a background.
- Drag the browser window onto your second monitor or TV.
- Press Watch tape, then F for fullscreen. Turn off captions under Quick settings for a clean picture.
- Leave it running. With no music it keeps moving on the demo rhythm at 90 BPM, or set your own tempo under Tempo & tape feel.
Good to know
- Tape 90 is a fullscreen browser window, not a system wallpaper setting. That’s why it works the same on Windows, Mac and Chromebook.
- Your computer’s sleep and screen-off settings still apply. Adjust them if you want the display to stay on.
- Background tabs pause to save power, so keep the Tape 90 window visible.
- Your photos are read from your disk and stay there. Nothing is uploaded.
Make it yours
Set a cut every 8 beats for a slow, gallery-like pace, lower the film grain for a cleaner image, or turn on Shuffle photos so the order changes. Add a title card with a name or date, and it appears every so often between photos.
Questions
Is this a real live wallpaper?
It works like one but runs in a browser window. Open it fullscreen on any screen and it keeps cycling your photos. It does not change your operating system’s wallpaper setting.
Does it need music?
No. With no audio connected, the demo rhythm keeps it moving at 90 BPM. You can also set a manual tempo.
Will it use a lot of power?
It targets 30 frames per second and decodes only a few photos at a time. Background tabs pause automatically.
